Black Lantern Hal Jordan is a corrupted version of the iconic Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, arising during the "Blackest Night" comic book event. His first appearance as a Black Lantern occurs in Blackest Night #2 (2009).

He is resurrected as a member of the Black Lantern Corps, fueled by black power rings that tap into the emotional energy of death. Unlike other members of the Lantern Corps, Black Lanterns are not driven by specific emotions, but by a hunger to extinguish life and recruit others to their ranks.

As a Black Lantern, Hal Jordan retains his memories and personality, but they are twisted and used to torment his friends and loved ones, making him a particularly dangerous and psychologically devastating foe. His resurrection is part of Nekron's plan to eliminate all life and emotion from the universe.
